Video calling has yet to make its mark in the majority of homes, but with more kit like the ASUS AiGuru SV1 videophone on the market, who knows?No need for a computer here, this standalone device offers it all, including a 7-inch display, built-in webcam, speaker, microphone and Wi-Fi connectivity. All you need to do is make yourself presentable, smile and get yourself a Skype account. It might save you a few quid too, with unlimited video calls for free to other Skype users, as well as free voice calling with those same Skypers.
There is one obvious flaw in this video goodness - you'll need a healthy group of video-friendly friends to contact to make the AiGuru SV1 pay its way. But with 'more than 25% of Skype-to-Skype calls' being video-based right now (according to Skype figures), there's every chance that yours mates are already at it behind your back.
